ASIIN e. V. is a registered association in accordance with the law of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The association is supported by many organisations, which view the quality of university education as a central concern. They are associations of universities and universities of applied sciences, expert societies, profession-related organisations, industrial and business associations and unions.
This alliance was first founded in 1999 as the non-profit association ASII for the accreditation of degree programmes in engineering an informatics, which rapidly expanded to ASIIN in 2002 by including the fields of natural sciences and mathematics.
Since 2000, ASII or ASIIN has the right to award the accreditation seal of the German Accreditation Council, in addition to the ASIIN quality seal.
In 2008, there were further expansions of the activities of ASIIN e. V. such as the establishment of panels, criteria, and procedures for the evaluation of QM systems in studying and teaching and the related admission by the German Accreditation Council.
To this end, ASIIN Consult GmbH took up work as a 100% subsidiary of ASIIN e. V. for consulting services in the educational sector in early 2008.
In addition to its activities in Germany, ASIIN e. V. has already participated in national and European projects on the quality of university education at a very early stage and has been involved in the coordination processes of European and international organisations as a member. These activities are presented in the section ASIIN international.
The structure of ASIIN e. V.
The status of ASIIN e. V. recognises the following organs and panels:
- The four member groups with parity chair of seats at the member meeting of ASIIN e. V.
- The Board of Directors of the Agency
- The Accreditation Commission for Degree Programmes (Programme Accreditation)
- The Technical Committees (Programme Accreditation)
- The Audit Teams (in the Programme Accreditation and in the System Accreditation)
- The Accreditation Commission for Quality Management Systems (System Accreditation)
- The Board of Complaints
- The ASIIN Headquarters with the Managing Office of the association
